One of strategy to keep costumer loyal is by giving them what they want, even when they don't realize it.

Recently, Nokia has launched application related to fast month or Ramadhan month, which is very sacred for moslems. The application contain many informartion related to fasting it self, plus infos connecting to Islam and moslem, like pray time, Al Quran, guide to Hajj and Umroh, etc.

I believe many users of Nokia phone don't ever think to have those information in their own phone. But with what Nokia had done, moslem become aware that they could give their Nokia phone more value added especially from religion perspective.

It would be cool tobe able to access any information about Islam through our own cell phone, or reading Al Quran wherever we are, and even for those with Nokia Map support Phone, many mosques could be located in several area like Arab Saudi or Jordan, and Pakistan, even Marocco.

I think Nokia has done a good job to serve this application, since the consumers of Nokia phone will have more fanatic feeling to their phone since they feel that Nokia pay attention to what they need.

GPS in Mobile Phones

Like we could see these days, there is one new feature become popular installed in mobile phones. The feature mostly doesn't need additional cost in using so make it become popular in relatively short time.

It's GPS. According to here, GPS, which stands for Global Positioning System, is a radio navigation system that allows land, sea, and airborne users to determine their exact location, velocity, and time 24 hours a day, in all weather conditions, anywhere in the world. The capabilities of today’s system render other well-known navigation and positioning “technologies”—namely the magnetic compass, the sextant, the chronometer, and radio-based devices—impractical and obsolete. GPS is used to support a broad range of military, commercial, and consumer applications.

in simpe word, GPS is tool to find out where we are. The location served through display with coordinate. For end user, it is important to installed map data in GPS tool to help making orientation. Basically position information given by GPS is in coordinate, so if you are not familiar with this term, the map will help you with it.

Many vendor like Nokia is equipped their mobile phone with GPS built in, including map data. What's in the map? The map here shows road complete with name information, also there is POI (point of Interest) describes ATM (Automatic Teller Machine), Fuel Station, Restaurant, etc. These object is useful when we are looking for nearest ATM--example-- from our current location, and thanks to GPS, it will help us to find it.

In my country with very large and wide area, Nokia doesn't give complete map area. The map given is only for major cities which is understable because most users of mobile phone live in cities. But it will become alittle problem when users going out from city. The use of GPS will abate due to the unavailable map covered.

But hopefully, this condition will be decrease more and more in the future, along with the increase of GPS phone demand and the popularity of GPS it self not just in the city comunnity, but in village as well.

Increase Battery Life of Your Cell Phone

Cell phone come up with many features these days. Features installed into the cell phone most are not relating to basic function of cell phone, which is calling and messaging. Let's name them : music player, video player, data storage, camera, and today's trend : GPS, wow, i wonder if they could installed washing machine into cell phones in the future :D

Number features means the increase of power consumption. So the power from battery that suppose to use for basic function of cell phone which is to communicate is turn into other purpose.

To deal with it, you could decide to : 1. Buy mobile phone with less feature; 2. So something to increase the life of the your battery. For you who choose no.2 option, here are some advise to keep the battery strong.

1. Use the mobile phone whenever you need to. When you don't have to use it, shut it down. When you get sleep, it's better to power off your mobile phone.

2. This may not out of your reach, but the high signal that mobile phone receive, the less power consumption need. So, it's lucky for people who have good cellular signal in their neighborhood.

3. Turn of additional feature when you don't use it. Don't turn the bluetooth stay on, because, beside eating power battery, your mobile phone is also vulnerable tobe infected by virus. WiFi is require huge power as well, so make sure it's turned off when you finish using it.

4. If your cell phone is capable to perform multitasking, turn off the unuse application

5. Set the brighness into middle level.

6. Avoid keep pluging the carge into power source when the battery is full.

7. Don't play game in the cell phone too much, don't listen the music through your cell phone too long, don't watch the movie through your mobile phone too long, but I guest it will make the features become useless :D

8. Use vibration mode only when you need

I believe there are still more tricks to keep the battery long life, those mentioned are several samples.

Gadget For Ladies...?

Actually, the said that ladies like pink gadget or cellphone polished diamond is not true, or not 100% true. From a survey provided recently, most ladies don't like feminin gadget.
This survey was provided by Saatchi & Saatchi, a well known advertising consultant. The result said that most woman actually has a good attention to technology, but the fact about how the technology shop threat them make them become reluctant.

In fact, a third willing to spend more money for useful gadget, or if the gadget is alittle more expensive but useful, ladies don't mind to pay more.

From appearance aspect, only 9% respondents think that gadget for ladies should be feminim look. What they really want is that gadget with good and high quality design. Most woman feel sloppy with the existing of "gadget for ladies" or gadget with fake diamond.

iPhone Got Cheaper??

Imagine when you have just bough a cool and most wanted gadget on the earth. Of course you didn't get the gadget with cheap prize, and you had done anything to get that gadget, like borrowed money, or sold your thing :)

Not so long after celebrating your winning having that cool gadget, suddenly the vendor announced that the prize of 'the most wanted gadget' will be cutted! Well well, what will you do? yealling 'AARRRGHHH?! " :)

It's just happened to iPhone owners lately. Apple annouced that the prize of iPhone will be cutted about US$ 200, whew, it's pretty good news for you guys who don't have that mobile gadget, rite? But not for recent owners, it's a night mare!! After what they've done to get iPhone, now they must swallow the truth.

But, there is a solution offered to reduce this heat. Apple will give former owners a credit to shop at Apple Store, but it only valid for those who bought iPhone 2 weeks before this cut prize announced.

Many former owner is not satified with this condition, especially for those who don't get credit, how pity they are...

But hey, let's see the positive from this condition, at least, more people could have iPhone rite now, and other mobile gadget brands will start to think that iPhone is the straight rival for their products. iPhone is not a premium gadget anymore.

So, other brands... start to make better mobile gadget from now, okey?? :)

Exploded Nokia Batteries at India

From India reported that a few nokia handsets exploded in several times. one of the case cause a woman got injuried in Kolakat India. This lady used nokia 2100 with BL-3D battery type.

Nokia confirmed that the lady used a non original Nokia battery for the mobile gadget, but on the contrary the lady said she never replace the battery for almost 2.5 years since first bought. She said that the phone was charged for about 10 minutes before it exploded.

One of Nokia battery BL-5C that reported damaged earlier was exploded when it was charged at shop around Asansol West Bengal India. Luckily no one got injuries.

One day after, another Nokia exploded at Gujarat but no casualties. It also happened when the phone was charged. Previously, Nokia has announced to recall batteries type BL-5C for Nokia because the possibility of overheating especially when charging. These batteries was produced by Matshusita around Desember 2005 untill November 2006. For that matter, Nokia also has announced how to identify the error battery to users and how to claim replacement.

Many advantage we could have using mobile phone. It's not just a good to keep us stay intouch, but it could represent the personality from the owner. And now, there is good news for they who love music and can't live without it. MP3 players now available in everywhere with various capacities, various models, and various price of course. No doubt that the raising of Mp3 format in has reduced popularity cassette player, and even cd's!!

Many vendors now launch mobile phones with mp3 player built in these days. A mobile phones and music player in one piece, isn't that cool? and also, the music player in the mobile phones also equipped with accessories that will complete the joyness listening music. Recently, Nokia and Sony Ericsson had launched mobile phones with music player equipped with very large space to store file. Nokia vendor with Nokia N91 equipped it with 4 gigabytes space to keep music files! cool! that way it's called a Juke Box phone when its launched. Sony Ericsson with W900i, is equipped with 470 mb store that able to be expanded into 2 giga maxs using Memory Stick. Well, it's not as huge as N91's, but remember, N91's space is provided by mini harddisk as its media, since W9001 using flash. We also know that harddisk has a moving component inside it since flash doesn't. So, you better becareful not to shake your N91 (or drop it) because you could damage the harddisk and risk loosing your music files. Flash is safer because there is no moving component inside it since it using magnetic to store files, but it's more expensive.

Actually, Samsung also launched mobile phone with 3 gigs based microdrive format. It uses Microsoft Windows Mobile as OS and of course it has a built in music player application. I think music player application ini this device is only as accessories, I mean, by using Windows OS, the vendor target this device for executive or work companion. There is no dedicated music application button in it, which N91 and W900i has. But the advantage is, it could handle WMF music format that other brand can't.

Is this phenomenon gonna kill ipod? we know ipod is the most popular digital music player. One thing for sure, those who has ipod, I am sure they have mobile phone, but those who have phone, not all of them have ipod. So, you better carry one thing that could do two things rather than carry two things with their own function?

Mobile Phones To Help Fight Crime

A new scheme has been launched in three towns across the UK, encouraging people to report anti-social behaviour using their mobile camera phones. Harlow in Essex (home town of Mouse2house.co.uk) as well as Bristol and Ipswich have been given the opportunity to test this new way of reporting anti-social behaviour.

Initially residents are being invited to snap photos of graffiti and vandalism using their mobile phones, which can then be sent over the mobile phone network to council officers on 07739 888 558 with the word Harlow, Bristol or Ipswich (depending on which town you are in) followed by details of where the offence has taken place. Once the image/s are received at the council offices they will then be added to the anti-social behaviour database, which is shared across several other organisations. The cost of sending a message is dependent on the person's mobile phone tariff.

Harlow council joint leader Cllr Chris Millington said: "This new service will help increase people's involvement in making Harlow a safer, cleaner place to live by expanding the ways in which these crimes are reported to us". "It's important to stress," said the other joint leader, Cllr Kevin Brooks, "that we don't want people to put themselves at risk by photographing perpetrators as they commit the crime, but photos of damage caused by anti-social behaviour will be useful in monitoring activity and building up evidence".

According to a police spokesman, the police in Harlow welcome this partnership initiative as it encourages residents to become involved in helping towards the improvement of the environment and local community. If the scheme is proven to be successful in the three towns, it is proposed that the scheme is rolled out across the rest of the country.

This type of scheme demonstrates the changing face of the mobile phone and it's use. It is no longer just a device for making phone calls, but a mobile device with many uses i.e. photos, video, music, note taking, voice recording etc. Imagine if you are unfortunately involved in a minor motor accident, you would be able to take photographic, video and audio records of the incident details which can later be used as evidence if necessary, no more 3rd parties denying that the accident took place or changing the story of what actually happened!

Do you like chatting? well, most of you that spend much time with internet should know well about massenger. Massenger is an application that let us chat with someone around the world. There are some popular massengers, which are : MSN massanger, Yahoo massanger, AOL massanger, etc. I my self use yahoo massanger and MSN massanger to chat with friends all around the world.

How about if we could not reach the internet because we don't sit in front of our PC, yet we want to chat with friend? I have a friend who has girlfriend studying abroad, during this time, when they like to communicate, they use massanger to chat plus a webcame to see each other. The problem is, that my friend couldn't always stay tune in front of the PC because internet is still exspensive in this country :(. and if chatting through sms, the cost is too high, so sms is not absolutely a good idea to chat.

Do you know that selular phone can be use as massanger with very low cost? Well, actualy just a few type of phone could do it, because the this application must be istalled first to the phone. also the phone should support GPRS and also your SIM Card also is support GPRS. There are many popular mobile massanger, but the most popular one is Agile Massanger.
Agile Massanger run in many platforms or OS, such like Symbian, UIQ, and Microsoft Product (Windows Smarphone and Windows Mobile). I my self use XDAII as my phone. Because it's OS is Windows Mobile, so Agile Massanger could run well.

About the cost, how exspensive is it? Well... Agile Massanger run through GPRS so that the calculation of cost depend on data we receive or send. In Agile Massanger, there is 'Traffic Counter' menu that calculate data we use during chatting, its “In” and “out”. Note that data size is represent as kb (kilobyte). Tariff per kb data is different from operator, but it is definetly much much cheaper than sms. In my country, it takes IDR 300,- or IDR 350,- per sms, and it takes about IDR 11,- untill IDR 25,- per kb data through GPRS.

Base on my own experience, chatting using this massanger through my phone takes a reasonable prize rather then using sms. We could chat as long as we like without to worry our bill will go high because it is so cheap, also you could monitor the tariff by accesing 'Traffic Counter' menu.
So, by mobile massanger, we could chat anytime or anywhere withaout having to face PC and connect to internet. As long as there is phone signal, we could chat with anybody. Isn't that cool?

Beside its function tobe a communication devise, selular phone is also a gadget that could affect to the owner's self confidence. Taking care of selular Phone is not a hard thing, below are some tips that you could use to make yout phone always in good condition n perform well

1. Use Case. Actually, its not recommended to keep your phone in the pocket along with other things you carrying (coins, key, etc), because it will scratch your phone's case n it won't look nice anymore.

3. Take care the battery. Battery is important component of the phone. It is supplying the energy so that the phone runs. There 2 type of battery that well know by people, which are : Ni-MH battery and Li-ion battery. But actually most selular phone use Li-ion as their original battery.
Just remember that it has different treatment for each kind of battery.
Ni-MH battery needs to be full empty before it get charge because the 'memory effect' will not appear. Memory Effect is condition that prevent fully charge of the battery. To avoid that, make sure the battery is empty before you charge.
Li-ion battery has no 'Memory Effect', so it could be charge whenever you want. But Li-ion battery has somekind of 'age', I mean, it will reduce the capacity to hold energy along the time we use it. It happends whether you use it or not, that's why there is somekind of time limit to this battery. To slow this down, when you plan not to use Li-ion battery for a long time, you better place it in the refrigerator.
For both type of batteris, don't often charging the battery trough your car since the electricity is not stable so it could damage the battery.

4. If you familiar with the features of your phone, well you are blessed. Because so many people use their “sophisticated selular phone” just for making call and send sms or maybe listening music. Whereas, there are so many thing that could be done by selular phones, such like send or receive email, fax, surfing the web, and with additional software, you could chatting with your mate using massenger! isn't that cool? also you could edit or making document such as word or exel using your phone too.
Those features could improve our productivity and efficienty, so our life would go easier.
